Andy Kongsakul, O.D.

OPTOMETRIST

 

Dr. Andy Kongsakul, a proud San Fernando Valley native, earned his Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from the University of California, Irvine, and his Doctorate of Optometry from the State University of New York College of Optometry. 

​

He served as an attending optometrist at Mount Sinai Beth Israel in New York City, specializing in strabismus and pediatric eye care. Additionally, he is skilled in fitting custom lenses for myopia management in children, as well as for patients with keratoconus and corneal transplants, helping them achieve clearer vision and improved eye health​

​

Beyond his private practices, he actively contributes to the optometric field as a member of the American Optometric Association, California Optometric Association, San Fernando Valley Optometric Society, and Asian American Optometric Society. Dedicated to community service, Dr. Kongsakul has volunteered at the LACHC clinic in downtown LA, assisting the homeless population in Skid Row, and has participated in humanitarian missions with Unite for Sight, providing essential eye care to rural villages in Ghana.

When he's not working, Dr. Kongsakul enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, exploring new cuisines, attending concerts, traveling, snowboarding, and cheering on the Lakers

Marshall Field, O.D.

Dr. Marshall Field got his Doctorate of Optometry from the Los Angeles College of Optometry, USC. Since then, he has been providing industry-leading vision care to families in his community for over 40 years. Dr. Field’s specialization is in comprehensive eye examinations, identifying both vision and health problems and correcting refractive errors by prescribing eyeglasses or contact lenses. He is also licensed to treat and manage eye diseases and infections with the use of therapeutic and pharmacological agents.

Outside of practicing optometry, Dr. Field has been active in his community for decades. He has served as a California State Advisory Commissioner and is a proud member of the San Fernando Valley Optometric Society, California Optometric Association, American Optometric Association, Reseda Chamber of Commerce, Reseda Revitalization Committee and the Community Redevelopment Agency. Dr. Field is also on the Board of Directors for Valley Community Healthcare. As a testament to his dedication to his patients, he received the “Best Optometrist” Daily News Readers’ Choice Award in 2015.

Gina Shao, O.D.

After growing up with her own vision problems, Dr. Gina Shao wanted to help those in her community get the eye care they need too. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics from UCLA before going on to receive her Doctorate of Optometry from State University of New York College of Optometry. While studying, she got a headstart on her career interning at pediatric, vision therapy, and ocular pathology practices.

​

Alongside providing the best eye care possible for her patients, Dr. Shao was a proud member of the Asian American Optometric Society. She has also helped local vision clinics that provide care for the Special Olympics, MEND, and RAM, as well as joined missions to serve communities in Oaxaca, Mexico. She is also fluent in Mandarin Chinese, allowing her to serve a huge part of Los Angeles’ diverse population.

Alongside her professional life, Dr. Shao loves hiking, traveling, music, knitting, reading, photography, trying out new recipes, and spending time with family and friends.

​Anne Shin, O.D.

Dr. Anne Shin grew up in the Chicago area. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from UI Champaign-Urbana before getting her Doctorate of Optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry. After her graduation, she moved to Southern California to start practicing.

​

After years of pursuing professional certificates and working with patients of all ages at private practices, she now practices full-scope optometry. She is a licensed therapeutic optometrist that is certified to not only provide traditional optometry services, but also diagnose and treat eye diseases and infections using both therapeutic and pharmacological agents.

​

When Dr. Shin isn’t practicing, she is spending time with her husband and two daughters. She also loves cooking dishes from all over the world, running, reading, playing golf, and both playing and listening to music of all genres.

Kristal Kawamoto

Kristal Kawamoto, O.D.

OPTOMETRIST

 

Originally from San Jose, CA., Dr. Kristal Kawamoto started her SoCal life at UCLA, where she graduated with honors in Physiological Science. Her passion for health and medicine led her to obtain her Doctorate of Optometry degree from Southern California College of Optometry in Fullerton, also with honors. During her 4th year internships, Dr. Kawamoto treated various ailments from glaucoma to diabetic retinopathy at VA hospitals in Hawaii and Arizona. She also stayed active with various community service organizations, including trips to El Salvador, where she provided hundreds of much-needed eye exams.

 

Dr. Kawamoto was practicing in Gardena, CA before she made her move to the San Fernando Valley, where she joined the elite group of doctors at El Portal Optometry. Here, she continues her philosophy of forming lasting relationships with each patient and providing the absolute best care possible.

 

She continues to stay active in her community and profession as well, serving as president and now trustee for the Asian American Optometric Society. Dr. Kawamoto has a passion for the outdoors, animals, and food, and you will often find her travelling, snowboarding, or cheering on her favorite Bay Area teams.

Linda Weng

Linda Weng, O.D.

OPTOMETRIST

 

Originally from Toronto, Canada, Dr. Linda Weng got her Bachelor of Science at McMaster University, then pursued her Doctorate of Optometry at the New England College of Optometry in Boston. She graduated with honors.

​

During her clinical rotations, she provided a wide range of eye care services. She performed dry eye therapy, helped patients with myopia management, and dispensed specialty contact lenses at two private practices. She also assisted a local Boston community health center and the Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center in Providence, RI providing eye care for a variety of vision conditions and ocular diseases.

​

Dr. Weng specializes in myopia management and dry eye therapy. In addition to providing eye care services, she also helped with research in a myopia-control lab comparing optical biometers in children. The results of her work were presented at the American Academy of Optometry meeting in San Diego, CA. These cutting-edge advancements in research allow her to provide the best care possible for her patients.

​

In her free time, Dr. Weng enjoys trying new restaurants, spending time on sunny beaches, and binge-watching Netflix shows.

Mayra Lazo, O.D.

OPTOMETRIST

 

Growing up in the San Fernando Valley, Dr. Mayra Lazo’s goal is to provide quality and compassionate full scope primary eye care to her community. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Human Biology at University of California, Merced and Doctorate of Optometry from
Western University of Health Sciences.


She has had the opportunity to serve multiple diverse communities during her clinical rotations including pre/post-operative care for air force military members, diabetic retinopathy/ocular pathology in community health centers, glaucoma/macular degeneration at Jonathan M. Wainwright Memorial VA Medical Center, and vision therapy/neuro-rehab low vision /specialty contact lens care at the Eye Care Institute in Pomona. All of which have strengthened her
passion for providing vision care to people while simultaneously broadening her experience in treating and managing eye health in all ages. 


During her free time, Dr. Lazo enjoys spending time with friends and family, watching the latest movies or taking road trips across the country. She will often explore all the food options the San Fernando Valley and its surroundings has to offer. She also enjoys volunteering with Healing California and particularly enjoys working with underserved communities including Spanish speaking populations as a Spanish speaker herself.
